6th Grade Class Field Trip
13 05 2008
On Monday, May 12, the sixth graders went on a field trip to the California Science Center. When we arrived at the Center, we decided to visit the free exhibits at the Museum. Students explored the hands-on exhibits on biology, technology and earthquakes. Then, it was time for a quick lunch, followed by the “Mummies: Secrets of the Pharaohs” film at the IMAX Theater. Our final stop at the Center was the “Body Worlds” exhibit, where students got to see the inner workings of the human body. Many students also stopped by the gift shop to pick up some mementos of the trip.
What sixth graders had to say about the trip:
“The field trip was cool because we saw real bodies that aren’t plastic.” ~ Anthony M.
“The [IMAX] movie was very, very cool. They showed mummies when they’re all dried up and dead. They showed how they found their tombs.” ~ Paula T.
“What had stayed in my mind was how much extremes people go to rob someone’s tomb.” ~ Guadalupe M.
“I liked the field trip because it was fun and it was the first field trip I went to in 6th grade.” ~ Jazzmine C.
“The best thing of the field trip was the IMAX movie. It was cool because the things popped out. The surprising thing in Body Worlds III is that they were real body and organs. That was creepy.” ~ Jennifer G.
“When we got to the Science Center I looked up and my friend noticed it was spelled “ScienCenter”. I thought it was cool.” ~ Brianna O.
Thanks to Ms. Weber for making the trip possible, and to all the parents (and big brother!) for chaperoning the students.
